Describe the problem, not the product
People asking for help on Reddit and X don't use your product's name or category. They describe their problem, so search with their words.
Nobody posts "looking for an AI-powered workflow platform." They post "I keep forgetting to invoice clients, what do you all use?"
If you search for your category, you'll mostly find launches and other founders. If you search for the problem, you'll find buyers.
Find their words in ten minutes
- Read five recent posts in a subreddit your users hang out in. Write down the exact phrases they use to complain.
- Look at what reviewers say about a competitor, both the praise and the gripes. Those words are search terms.
- Drop words like "platform," "solution," and "SaaS." Buyers rarely use them.
Then use those phrases in your searches and in your one-line description.
First10 matches posts to how you describe your product, so the closer your words are to your buyers' words, the better the matches you get.
