Reddit Pro vs Reddit lead tools

Short answer: Reddit Pro is Reddit's own free business suite. It tracks keywords you choose and shows the posts, comments and communities that mention them, with an AI summary of the main themes, and it gives you a business profile and performance stats for your own posts. A Reddit lead tool does a narrower job: it finds individual posts where someone is asking for a product like yours, ranks them by buying intent and hands you a reply draft. Reddit Pro helps you understand the conversation; a lead tool tells you which posts to answer today. Many founders can use both, because Reddit Pro is free.

What Reddit Pro is, in Reddit's words

Everything in this section comes from Reddit's own pages, read on November 8, 2026.

  • What it is: "a free suite of organic business tools to help business users discover, join, and contribute to Reddit's communities and conversations." It is "currently in beta and available for eligible businesses and organizations", available in "all English-speaking countries where Reddit operates", and it is "not a paid advertising tool or a replacement for Reddit Ads" (or for Reddit Premium). (Reddit Help: What is Reddit Pro?)
  • Signing up: you need a Reddit account with a verified email and a SFW profile, plus your business name, website and category (you pick one category and can't change it later). Reddit can suggest a profile bio generated from your website. Reddit Pro accounts follow the same Reddit Rules and community rules as everyone else, and Reddit asks businesses to be transparent about which brand they represent, not to build profiles of individual users, and not to offer incentives for positive comments. (Reddit Help: Sign up for Reddit Pro)
  • Trends: you add keywords and see "where, when, and how they're being discussed on Reddit". For each keyword you get the posts and comments that mention it, the most discussed ones, the communities talking about it and "an AI-generated summary of the most popular Reddit discussions" grouped into themes. "Smart keywords" (only some brands, products, categories and topics so far) also show conversation volume and related keywords. There is "currently no limit" to how many keywords you can track. (Reddit Help: Trends)
  • Coverage and data rules: only public, SFW communities feed the insights; private, banned, quarantined and NSFW communities, some sensitive topics, chats, messages and deleted content are excluded, and "Currently Reddit Pro only aggregates English conversations." Reddit Pro "is intended for your internal use", and you "may not download other users posts and comments" from it. (Reddit Help: Trends)
  • Your own content: Reddit's Pro page says you can "measure your post and comment performance – from upvote rate, to views, and more", and suggests using a new username for your business if you already use Reddit personally. (Reddit Pro) Trends launched on January 7, 2025, on top of the Reddit Pro suite Reddit launched the year before. (Reddit for Business)

The right-hand column uses First10 (first10.dev) as the example, because those are the only lead-tool facts we can state for certain. Other lead tools differ in coverage, price and whether they can post for you; see Reddit lead tools compared.

Where they differ

Mentions vs asks

Reddit Pro's Trends is built around keyword mentions: every post and comment that mentions your keyword, sorted by engagement, plus themes and communities. That is the right view for "where is my topic discussed and what do people say about it". A lead tool asks a different question about each post: is this person asking for a product like mine right now? A thread with thousands of upvotes about your category is great research but often a poor place to reply; a two-hour-old post with three comments asking "is there a tool for this?" is the opposite.

Dashboard vs inbox

Reddit Pro is something you open and read. The Reddit Pro pages we read don't describe email alerts, intent scoring or reply drafts. Lead tools are usually built around delivery: the posts worth answering arrive in your inbox or feed, already filtered, often with a draft reply.

Brand presence vs one-to-one replies

Reddit Pro also helps you run a business presence on Reddit: a profile, reposting good conversations about your business to it, and stats on your own posts and comments. A lead tool like First10 only covers finding the right posts; posting is up to you.

Which should you use?

  • Just starting on Reddit, no idea where your users are: set up Reddit Pro (it's free), add your problem phrases, category and a competitor or two, and read the communities it shows. Use that to pick a few subreddits to focus on.
  • You want a steady supply of people to reply to: add a lead tool, so you don't have to read every mention to find the handful of real asks. First10's free plan emails the top 5 posts once a week.
  • You plan to post as a brand (announcements, AMAs, a company profile): Reddit Pro covers that side; a lead tool doesn't.
  • Either way: reply as yourself, say you built the product, and follow each subreddit's rules. Our guide on mentioning your product on Reddit without getting banned has a checklist.

How First10 works

You describe your product in one line. First10 (first10.dev) searches recent public Reddit posts (X coming soon) for people asking for a product like yours, scores each post for buying intent and emails you the best ones, each with a short, honest reply draft. It never posts, comments or sends DMs for you: you edit and send every reply from your own account. Free: top 5 posts once a week. First Look: $9 one-off report. Solo: $19/month for the top 10 every morning. Pro: $49/month for three products.

FAQ

What is Reddit Pro?

Reddit Pro is Reddit's own free suite of organic business tools. Reddit's Help Center describes it as tools that help businesses discover relevant communities and conversations, understand how and where to contribute, and measure the performance of their content. It is in beta for eligible businesses and organizations, and it is not an ads product or a replacement for Reddit Premium.

Is Reddit Pro free?

Yes. Reddit's Help Center says Reddit Pro is free to use for eligible businesses and organizations. You sign up with a Reddit account that has a verified email and a SFW profile, plus your business name, website and category.

Can Reddit Pro find people asking for my product?

Partly. Its Trends tab tracks keywords you add and shows the posts and comments that mention them, the most discussed ones, the communities talking about them and an AI summary of the main themes. You still read those mentions yourself to spot who is actually asking for a tool. The Reddit Pro pages we read do not describe scoring individual posts for buying intent, reply drafts or email alerts, which is the job Reddit lead tools focus on.

What is the difference between Reddit Pro and a Reddit lead tool?

Reddit Pro is a dashboard for understanding where and how a topic is discussed and for running a business presence on Reddit (profile, posting, performance). A Reddit lead tool looks for individual posts where someone asks for a product like yours, ranks them and usually adds a reply draft. First10 (first10.dev), for example, emails you the best matching Reddit posts with a draft reply and never posts for you.

Should I use Reddit Pro or a lead tool to get my first users?

Many founders can use both. Reddit Pro is free and comes from Reddit itself, so it is a good way to find the communities and recurring questions in your niche and to measure your own posts. A lead tool saves the daily reading by sending you only the posts where someone is asking for what you built. Either way, you write and post the replies yourself, under Reddit's rules and each subreddit's rules.

Can I export or republish what I find in Reddit Pro?

Reddit's Trends help page says Reddit Pro is intended for internal use: don't publish screenshots or information from Reddit Pro in marketing materials without Reddit's consent, and don't download other users' posts and comments, manually or with automated tools. You can download metrics about your own organic content.
