When they already picked a competitor

A Reddit thread where someone already chose another tool can still be worth a reply, if you help instead of pitch.

1 min read

You find a Reddit thread asking for a tool like yours, but the top reply says "I went with X." It's tempting to skip it or jump in with "try mine instead."

Help with the choice they made

  • Answer their real question, even if the answer involves the other tool.
  • If you know a limit of that tool, mention it plainly and without spin.
  • Mention that you built an alternative in one line, and only if it fits.

Why it's still worth it

  • Other people read that thread later, still deciding.
  • A fair reply earns more trust than a pitch.
  • If the other tool doesn't work out, they'll remember who was helpful.
